Helper Trainee, Shop 31 (Federal employment)

June 2021 - April 2023

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA

  • Cut and ground parts on Grand Rapids, Cincinnati, and Monoset industrial grade grinding equipment
  • Designed technical specification to be used by additive manufacturing equipment (used Solidedge 2016). Examples:
Designed a push tool for pushing packing materials, replacing a heavy handheld brass tool with a much lighter plastic tool; received an award in recognition for this design.
Designed a safety device to support grinder sander operational safety.
  • Performed maintenance on and operated various pieces of machinery, including Fortus 450, Fortus 770, J55, Mark2b, Metalx, Lulzbot, Formlabs 3D, resin, and metal printers.
  • Performed cost estimates and slice set up for parts produced using Grabcad, Eiger, Cura LulzBot edition
  • Modified parts to use multidimensional manufacturing components using Insight modification tool
  • Worked with TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane aka 'printable rubber') material printing on glove bag material. Printed rubber on plastic to make a gasket seal for a containment system.
  • Maintained inventory in support of print operations in accordance with hazmat safety and regulatory specifications using Planermen.
  • Conducted analysis for projects, producing JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) risk assessment and JPS (Job Planning Sheet) process analysis to support efficiency and minimize reproduction efforts and potential.
  • Conducted post production clean up processes to detail final product for a variety of materials. Processes include: high temperature real time clean up for printing ultem and antero, chemical post production for resin, sonic wash and high temperature kiln post production for ceramic-based metal prints.
  • Cleaning (on an industrial scale)
